Jack and The Beanstalk Pantomime

Friday 25th January to Saturday 2^nd February 2013

Come and join in the family fun and support a local Pantomime.  Jack and the Beanstalk is on show at the Stourport Civic Theatre at the end of January.  This is Monday Night Group’s latest annual production, and follows on from the fun, entertaining and successful Pantomime last year, which was the hugely entertaining Dick Whittington.

The Pantomime is suitable for all ages, and follows the traditional story Dame Trott and Simple Simon being somewhat hard-up, resulting in Daisy the Cow being traded for some ‘gold beans’, which turn out of course, just to be beans.  These are thrown away, and mysteriously grow into a huge beanstalk.  The evil Giant commands his henchmen Slime and Slithe to kidnap Daisy and Jill to satisfy his giant appetite.  Jack seeks out Jill, and with the help of Fairy Astral and a magic Talisman sends the Giant and his henchmen into deepest Cyber space.  Squire Bottom, his wife precious and all ‘the little bums’ (their children), then celebrate in style with the lavish wedding of Jack and Jill.

Along with the experienced Monday Night Group cast are featured several wonderful dances from dancers from the Crescents Ballet School, Worcester.  Miss Chance provides all the fabulous dancers and choreographs dances to complement the mood with each scene of the production, including ballet, modern and contemporary pop dances.

The members of the group have great fun on and off stage, and the group serves a purpose too.  The proceeds from the ticket sales, well over 4,000 are sold each year, help contribute funds to the local community.  Monday Night Group is a registered charity, and every penny of profit is given back to groups in the Wyre Forest community in their May Presentation Evening.  In May 2012, the group gave away over £19,000 to over 90 groups and charities in the local area!

Happy New Year!

2013 is an exciting year for Vamos Theatre. Finding Joy will be touring national after it opens at the Courtyard Theatre, Hereford on the 14^th February 2013.

Local Family Arts Networks - Join us to access FREE support and services!

We have now finalised our offer to arts organisations who wish to create their own local offers to families, you can access the information here and there is a link on the site to a simple form for your network to complete if you wish to take up the opportunities on offer.  We have designed the scheme to make it simple, effective and strategic, it offers a way for local arts organisations to work together to deliver a comprehensive programme of activities and performances for their local families.

Family Friendly Arts Conference - Town Hall, Birmingham – 15^th April 2013

The first conference will launch the Family Friendly Arts Campaign and through a range of presentations from key figures within the arts and from family organisations, the conference will explore some of the underlying themes of the Campaign – including key questions such as “What does family friendly actually mean?”, “How do we engage with families as a whole?”, “What differentiates work for families from work for children and young people?”.  Booking will open on Monday 21^st January 2013

Tenders – Family Arts Festival and Campaign Evaluation

The Campaign is inviting tenders for two major pieces of work. The first is to manage the Family Arts Month in October 2013 and 2014. Family Arts Festival (18^th October – 3^rd November 2013) – How’s your planning going?

The Campaign announced the dates of the Family Arts Festival in December.  Once the tender to run the Festival has been awarded, we will be moving swiftly to set up the website and to start to collate information and data. 

The Festival is just 34 weeks away - so get planning!
