Please see attached the governments white paper on culture. The first in 50 years so worth a read if only to say' I was there!'

 

And here is a quote from David Cameron too!

For those who want a summary of the summary here goes. The priorities are:

 

·         Inclusion is a major area especially in those areas where participation is low.

·         Cultural partnerships will be encouraged throughout the country

·         Heritage Action Zones will be launched to get more people to own local heritage

·         Taking culture internationally is a key area

·         Further encouragement of a mixed cultural economy including philanthropy

 

And to finish off the quotes here is one from Nicky Morgan

 

'I want every single young person to have the opportunity to discover how the arts can enrich their lives. Access to cultural education is a matter of social justice'

Random String Fellowship - Invitation for Artists to Apply

​Random String Fellowship

Creative technologists; Ludic Rooms, are inviting artists from across disciplines to apply for the Random String Fellowship. It's a comprehensive development programme based in the West Midlands to explore interactive technology, involving mentoring, group development sessions and access to technology. 

 

There is no expectation that the Fellowship will result in a new body
of work; this is an opportunity to  experiment. The 6 Fellows will just be required to contribute to a blog and present their work in progress at the Random String Symposium at Warwick Arts Centre on 10 June and talk about their findings at the end of the programme at Coventry Pecha Kucha.

note: the Fellowship is only open to artists who do not use routinely use interactive
technology in their creative practice.

The deadline for applications is Monday 18 April.

Learning, Outreach and Volunteering Officer, Museum of Royal Worcester

Learning, Outreach & Volunteering Officer, 2 Year Contract, 30 hrs per week

 

The Museum of Royal Worcester seeks to appoint a Learning and Outreach Officer to be responsible for development and delivery of an exciting and innovative Learning and Outreach Strategy. This includes developing a comprehensive teaching resource for schools, colleges and adult learners, developing community programmes and overseeing recruitment and development of a committed team of volunteers. The successful candidate will play a key role in the team responsible for delivering a £1.5 million redevelopment project supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

 

The project is a new start for the museum to reinforce its position as a collection of National Importance.

 

The project will refurbish the museum displays, re-interpret the collections and create a stimulating environment where visitors can learn about the factory community, the triumphs and pitfalls of manufacturing processes and the skills of designers and craftsmen. It will provide opportunities for involvement and learning and widen appeal drawing in local communities and more family visitors.

A person with energy, enthusiasm and experience in this field and ideally Heritage Lottery funded projects is sought to join the team.
