3 Actors required by Jestaminute Community Theatre c.i.c

We need three actors with significant devising/improvisation experience to work with writer/director Andy Higgitt to devise/rehearse/perform a new full length play. Funded by ACE and Worcestershire County Council, the play will tour to venues across Worcestershire; and will tell the stories of fictional characters based on the accounts of people who have experienced domestic abuse.

Each actor will be required to take on 2 main roles:

Female 1 playing age late 30’s -early 40’s

a) Lisa -long suffering victim of abuse from a controlling husband

b) Ruth -professional woman, perpetrator of abuse in a same sex relationship

Female 2 playing age early –late 20’s

a) Sara perpetrator of often violent abuse against her husband

b) Selina victim of abuse in a same sex relationship

Male playing age early –late 40’s

a)Terry perpetrator of abuse against wife (Lisa); more psychological/emotional  abuse, rather than physical

b) Michael – victim of physical+ emotional abuse from wife ( Sara)

Audition in Redditch Wednesday  22^nd May

Actors must be available for:

Devising:       3^rd – 8^th June; to include some preparatory guidance from professionals working in the field (Stonham) and  a show back of work-in- progress on 6th June to an invited audience.

Rehearsals: 19^th, 20^th, 21^st, 24^th, 25^th, & 26^th June          

Performances: 27^th, 29^th, 30^th June, 4^th 5^th & 6^th July.

Contract fee £1700
