Art & Craft Weekend - Bewdley

On 23rd & 24th August we will be holding our annual Art & Craft Weekend

in Bewdley. We have various locations around the town to accommodate

both individuals and groups who would like to exhibit and also space on

the riverside for those who prefer to bring their own stall. The aim, as usual,

is to attract both professional artists and craft workers and also keen amateurs

in whatever style or medium they operate; additionally we are also pleased

to hear from those who work with community groups.

If you would like more details please contact Maggie or myself and we will

do our best to help.

Bewdley Chamber Maids is a small voluntary organisation which organises

various events during the year including Bewdley Christmas Lights Festival

which takes place on 29th November this year. Please have a look at our

website for pictures of last years event

We hope this will be of interest to you, please feel free to pass on our details

to anyone else.

Best wishes

Dear Friends,

ART & CRAFT WEEKEND 23RD / 24TH AUGUST 2014

Those of you who have taken part in previous years will notice that we have now changed the date to the August Bank Holiday Weekend. We feel that the increase in visitor numbers to the town was beneficial.

As usual we are inviting art & craft workers in any medium or style to take part whether professional or a keen amateur. In addition we would like to welcome any antique traders for our Riverside Market.

There are many ways in which you can take part.

1) Our main exhibition area is St. Anne’s Church and you can exhibit your work for a small charge

(paintings  etc. £1.00 each, craft items – negotiable). These can be offered for sale if you wish, but just

make sure there is a price attached. All art & crafts are welcome – painting to pottery, floral art, glass,

sugar craft, jewellery etc. etc. The exhibition is set up on Friday evening from 8.00 p.m. and the

church is either manned or locked throughout the event. Exhibits are removed at 4.30 p.m. on Sunday.

We realise there may be a problem caused by holidays and so we are willing to accept item for display

at a date to suit you. Please note that we MUST have a list of artwork for exhibition by 16th August

so that we can prepare a summary.

2) We welcome larger exhibitions from Art Groups, schools or other organizations for which the Guild Hall

     is available.

3) Trade Stalls – we have space (some under cover) for anyone who would like a stall for either Saturday or

Sunday (£20.00 per day or £30.00 for both days)

4) Riverside Market (Saturday 24th only). As this is a Bank Holiday it will therefore be hot & sunny (!!)

so we hope there will be lots of visitors to the town and we will be holding a market on the riverside.

Everyone is welcome but particularly those selling art/crafts/antiques. You will need to bring your own

stall/gazebo and there will be a charge of £20 (charities – donations as usual). Please note this is a hard

standing surface so you will need to bring weights and cable ties for your stall.

This year we also hope to have ‘Art on the Railings’ – more details later.

5) Demonstrations / Master Classes – would you like to show others what you do? Again St. Annes or the

     Guild Hall will be available.

6) Open Studios - if you would like to open your studio as part of this weekend we would love to hear from

you so that we can include you in our publicity.

We will keep you informed of any additions to the programme and we are looking forward to meeting friends both old and new.

If you have any ideas please let us know as soon as possible and we will try our best to include them.

Don’t forget Bewdley Baptist Church will be open on Saturday 23rd  with lots of crafts, artwork, and ‘hands on’ activities.

As always, please spread the word to as many people as possible.

Best wishes,
