Cultural Commissioning work

'Last week Jan Higgitt and I attended an event in London concerning Cultural Commissioning.

Cultural Commissioning is a three year programme which will l help arts and cultural organisations to better engage with public service commissioning, maximising their opportunities to diversify income and work with communities to deliver social outcomes.  It is being led by the NCVO and is an important project for the arts sector especially those who work with public funders.

The event was very interesting and we saw some great examples of work across the county and I was delighted to attend a presentation by Kate Gant from Creative Health and the toolkit that they are working on for artists who are working in the health sector. Kate is well known to the arts and health sector within the county and we will look to develop our relationship further.

I also attended a commissioned piece of work undertaken in Plymouth from health commissioners who are working with arts and museum sector again to deliver well being outcomes.

Once all the workshops are on a website I will make sure you have access to them.

Please go to the website

This contains more information regarding the programme as well as a report outlining further opportunities that are available for arts organisations.

I am going to continue to find out more of this programme but it seems hugely relevant to us here in the WAP.

Many thanks

Steve
