Worcestershire Early Music

WEM newsletter February 2015

Dear Early Music friends,

Thank you to all those who came to our festival events in March; we were pleased to see our audiences are gradually growing. The welcome extended to us by those in Old St Martins in the Cornmarket, and by St Martin's London Road, was very encouraging, and audience members seemed to enjoy the acoustic and ambience of both venues for our concerts. Financially these venues are more sustainable for our festival, so it is likely that our Pride and Prejudice Ball will be the only event scheduled for the Guildhall for the foreseeable future.

Our team of workshop providers is currently working hard in residential care homes throughout Worcestershire, and in day care centres for young people with complex needs. We have received significant funding for these projects and enjoy singing and playing Early Music in the shape of folk songs, dance tunes, and sea shanties with our audiences.

Looking ahead, our first task will be to begin applications for the next round of funding, and then on to planning our next festival. If you have any ideas for funding sources, or for the festival generally next year we would love to hear from you.

              Best wishes,

                                     Barbara, Ian and Micaela
