Exciting opportunity for young musicians

Are you a musician aged between 16 to 24 years interested in creating high quality music across a variety of genres such as jazz, urban, African styles, world, folk, rock and many more? If so you are invited to audition for an ensemble based at mac birmingham led by professional composer and musician Sid Peacock and percussionist Ray Prince.

Throughout 2014 the group will meet on a weekly basis to rehearse with a view to creating their own set of music, to be recorded and performed at a major showcase at mac birmingham in Autumn 2014. It is hoped that the ensemble will continue making and performing music beyond this year.

Alongside the music making participants will be advised on the recording process, CD production and design, marketing and self-promotion.

Musicians and vocalists from all styles and backgrounds are invited and it is envisaged that the musical identity of the group will represent the interests of all involved. You should be confident on your instrument, to the equivalent of Grade 6, but an ability to read music is not required. We are keen to meet young musicians from diverse backgrounds with an interest in and aptitude for improvisation and playing by ear.

Workshop audition sessions will be held on the afternoon of Saturday 23 November. Places are limited so please contact us as soon as possible to book your space.
