Number 8 Opens Call for Gallery Submissions

Number 8
Number 8 Community Arts Centre is a facility run by and for the benefit of the community of Pershore and District.  It is the aim of the gallery to promote high quality semi-professional and professional visual art work from within and beyond the county of Worcestershire, programming a range of styles and subject matters.  It also aims to provide the local amateur visual arts community with an opportunity to exhibit some of their work and to encourage new artists.

Number 8’s Gallery is part of the foyer/coffee bar area which has a footfall of over 1,000 people per week. Please see the Gallery Plan for the dimensions of the Gallery space. The installation and dismantling of the exhibition is the responsibility of the artist.

Submission
In order to be considered for an exhibition please submit a formal submission, as detailed below:

·      5 (minimum) – 10 (maximum) examples of the kind of pictures that will feature in your proposed exhibition or are reflective of the style of your work as a whole.  These examples can be submitted as photographs, postcards or digital pictures on a CD Rom.

·      An artist history or CV detailing your contact details, interests, training, past exhibitions etc as appropriate. For group exhibitions please submit a history of the group and/or CVs of members.

·      Cover Letter including:-  details of your proposed exhibition theme
                                        whether the examples submitted will be part of the exhibition or not
                                             the total number of pictures you intend to exhibit (approximately)
                                        the size of the individual pictures you intend to exhibit (approximately)
                                             the price range of your work (approximately)

Please note the proposed exhibition must adequately fill the gallery space. Work submitted must not contain copyrighted material, infringe intellectual property rights or plagiarise another artist’s work.

Timescales & Finance
The artist will pay a £50 (solo), £70 (duo) and £100 (group) for a three week exhibition.  Any sales will be subject to a 20% commission plus VAT.

Marketing & Sales
Number 8 will market the exhibition through its seasonal brochure and website.  The artist(s) will need to provide Number 8 with a JPEG image and brochure copy by a set deadline. Any further marketing or printing will be at the artist(s) time and cost.

Number 8 will handle all sales and the artist(s) will receive any payments due (minus the commission charges) within 7 days of the end of the exhibition. Pictures will not be released to the purchaser until the end of the exhibition.  The artist(s) will be asked to securely pack all sold items ready for collection.

A Steering Group consisting of professional artists and Number 8’s Programme Manager will assess all submissions and applicants will be notified of the panel’s decision by the end of May 2013.

The Gallery space is open Mon to Saturday 10am – 4pm and 1hr before evening shows.  The Gallery is closed on some Bank Holidays and evening when there are no shows scheduled.
