Vamos Theatre seeks experienced Touring Technician

Vamos Theatre, the UK’s leading full mask theatre company, is seeking an experienced and highly organised Lighting and Sound Technician for its next touring production, Nursing Lives. Suitable candidates will have technical lighting and sound knowledge, possess excellent communication skills, and be able to drive a LWB, high top van. The role of the Touring Technician will be to coordinate the technical and some stage management aspects of the show, both in production week and whilst on tour; liaise with venues’ technical departments prior to arrival; support the get in/out at venues; and lead on lighting focusing and plotting and sound check in a variety of venues. The suitable candidate will have specialist lighting knowledge, excellent sound skills, and a good understanding of current health and safety practises.

Nursing Lives previously toured to mostly rural venues in 2011, but now a re-worked version of this popular show has been booked into small and mid-scale theatres and arts centres across the U.K. for the Spring 2015 season. We are delighted that already 60 dates of Nursing Lives have been confirmed, at venues including: Exeter Northcott; mac birmingham; The Courtyard, Hereford; Theatre Severn, Shrewsbury; Jersey Arts Centre; Torch Theatre; New Vic; and The Corn Exchange, Newbury.

Nursing Lives is a heart-warming wartime tale of bravery and love. This full-mask production is accessible, humorous, poignant and human, and addresses issues of life in war, separation and unjustness, as well as providing positive images of older people as proactive and able. Based in Worcester, Vamos Theatre has established its innovative, fearless and humorous performance style through extensive national touring and education programmes, and is looking to expand its reach by taking its next production to both UK and international venues. Vamos Theatre has been awarded 9 month project funding from Arts Council England Grants for the Arts Programme.  Read more about the company at www.vamostheatre.co.uk.

Wages are £400 for production/rehearsal week and £100 per show day, with all accommodation and travel whilst on tour away from the Worcester base covered by Vamos. We would ideally like to work with someone local to Worcester, who would thus be based at home during the rehearsal period and at the start of each touring week.

Applicants must be available for:

Interview: Week commencing 20th October at Worcester Arts Workshop

Production Week: 2nd – 10th February 2015 in Malvern

Tour: 11th February – 6th June 2015 with a break weeks in February, April and May. Most tour weeks have 4-5 shows booked in them.
