World Mental Health Day 2014 - 8th October - 25th October

My name is Claire Hilton and I am the project manager for the Art in Minds Foundation based in Worcester. AIMs is a supportive community of artists and creative professionals who have been in contact with mental health services. We put on art workshops and exhibitions locally as well as running art groups and events that our members can become involved in. We have been an organisation since 2004 under the umbrella of Shrub Hill Workshop which is a secondary mental health NHS service. AIMs can provide valuable support and community based creativity to past and present mental health service users.

Since January this year we became an independent charity with an office based in Worcester. Its a vital community project, bringing a sometimes considered controversial subject into the public domain and challenging the stigma surrounding mental health issues. Please see our website (designed and maintained by our members and volunteers) for more information.

Each year we exhibit locally with our member’s artwork. As part of World Mental Health Day this year (Friday 10th October) we are holding exhibitions at the Worcester Arts Workshop and The Hive in Worcester city centre. These are always well received by the public and our members help curate the exhibitions from start to finish.

This is where you can be involved..........As part of our display this year we want to be able to provide information about other local and national mental health services  and organisations. This would signpost mental health services to the general public, reaching out to those that may not feel they are able to access any help. To do this we are looking for local advertising information for services that people could access surrounding mental health, this could include:

·  Leaflets or fliers

·  Posters

·  Promotional material e.g. pens, key rings etc.

We will be putting all of this out on tables at The Hive for the general public to access.

If you know of anywhere that would like to be involved please let me know and feel free to pass on this email, any promotional material would need to be delivered to the Bradbury Centre in Worcester city centre.

If you require any more information please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Many Thanks

Claire Hilton

Project manager.
